Education & Training

Taryn graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology in 2003. She went on to earn a Master of Ministry with an emphasis in Family Systems Theory & Counseling in 2009. She graduated from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine with a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2013. In 2014 Taryn became a board certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) after demonstrating professional competency by passing NCCAOM board certification examinations in (1) Foundations of Oriental Medicine, (2) Acupuncture with Point Location, (3) Chinese Herbology, and (4) Biomedicine. 

 

Taryn Altendorfer is a Licensed Acupuncturist by the State of Texas Medical Board.

Practice Philosophy

 

With compassion and attentiveness at the core of her treatments, Taryn believes the patient-practitioner relationship is a key component to optimize healing. She also believes treatments should be accessible & affordable enough to allow for ongoing treatments. Taryn refers out to other acupuncturists and practitioners in the Austin area, as needed. Personal Life

For self-care & fun, Taryn enjoys nature and being active, especially hiking around the Austin area with her lab mix, Raven. She also participates in karaoke & sing-alongs, loves to read & listen to podcasts, and attends workshops at the Shambhala Center.
